Wake Up Feelings: I do not feel “terrible” this morning but certainly still getting used to winding the alarm back to 0440. Excited for today’s run because we watched a movie about the life of Steve Prefontaine last night. I actually love running and feel more powerful after a really long run, think 8 miles or more, than I do after a gym lifting session. Running is so unique in that it feels like a constant battle to continue. If you are not running for “something” like a finish line or for your life than your mind is just continually asking you to stop and your job is to deny this request. I like to run with no music so that I force myself to have this conversation over and over with my only reprieve when my thoughts trail off into plans for the day or the future. The self-reflection time is like a form of therapy for me. I am also excited because my new supplements came in the mail yesterday from Naked Nutrition and I cant wait to try a workout after taking their pre-workout. I have been doing coffee only since I started and it just doesn’t give me the same feeling as downing a shaker cup full of energy juice. I feel like I’m getting ready to curl up on the couch with a good book whilst holding my coffee mug. I get to start a little earlier today unfortunately because my oldest asked to take a “rest” day a.k.a sleeping in. The last 2 days I have been acting as his personal trainer with the cheap weight set I got him over the weekend after he told me he thought his chest was shrinking. I told him he earned it, but tomorrow we get back to it. I feel like one of the greatest things I can do for all my kids is share the gift of weightlifting. It can not only build your strength, but give you confidence and perseverance as well. Getting up early builds character. I want to instill this in them as early in their development as possible which is why this project to lose weight is so important to me. I’m tired of not living what I preach to them. I want to be the example for them.

Workout: 4.68 total miles. 4 miles running. Started with Zone 2, then pushed for negative splits after feeling like a runner for the first time in a long time. First two miles were a breeze and I realized I was naturally running faster as I went. Clocked a 12:25 mile to finish which is my fastest mile in probably a YEAR!

Cold Plunge: 10 minutes at 54 degrees

Diet: Intermittent Fasting with first meal at 1200. Last Meal at 1830 and protein/creatine shake at 1900. Calorie Total: 1825

Supplements:

  • morning - pre-workout & Yohimbine supplement from Legion before workout. EAAs after workout.

  • evening - whey protein & creatine.

Evening Feelings: a little tired this evening. like I feel a little wore out. spent the evening working on reading comprehension that watching a little bit of the old Beetlejuice movie to show my kids before we take them to the new one tomorrow.

NOTE: From this point on I will structure the blog with 2 posts per a day to check-in after my morning workout to see how I feel and at night before bed to divulge how the rest of my day went.
