My Influences and why I made some of the diet and exercise choices I did for this weight loss project. (no particular order)

NOTE: Any person/place/link/thing on this page is NOT an endorsement by it. Nothing has any affiliation to me (other than my personal friend Cedric Spencer) and are only shared as a reference to things I have watched and/or read that have motivated, inspired, and/or influenced me in some way.

  • Cedric Spencer: a friend and inspiration who has gone through his own weight loss journey and come out better on the other side.

    • placeholder

  • David Goggins and Cameron Hanes: grouped together because they both are fuel/motivation for me. David Goggins reminds me to stop being a wuss and Cameron Hanes’ “keep hammering” mantra stays etched in my mind because his lifestyle is a little closer to mine than Mr. Goggins haha. But, it is a testimony to just getting the work in with no excuses. Similar I think to how David Goggins expresses his ideas of just getting the work done. Plus David Goggins’ weightloss journey was inspirational too me in my first weightloss crusade. I have a feeling it will be this time around as well.

  • Michael Matthews: a fitness influencer/author (he may describe himself a little different apologies if I am not 100% correct)

    • his book “Bigger Leaner Stronger” has influenced everything from my programming to my dietary choices. It breaks down training “Barney style” and is easy to digest and follow.

    • Legion Athletics supplements are some of the best on the market in my humble opinion. I took them over my first weight loss journey in 2021.

    • Legion calorie calculator is how I loosely determined what daily calories I should intake

  • Dr. Andy Galpin: discovered him on a Dr. Andrew Huberman Youtube video and preceded to binge watch everything on Youtube he had.

    • reason I added a speed day to my programming. influences my weight and set/rep choices

  • Dr. Andrew Huberman: discovered him on Youtube somehow. probably a suggested video but I never looked back.

    • mindset and how the mind maps to my daily activities and choices

  • Geoff Roes, Anton Krupicka, Kilian Jornet and Hal Koerner

    • 4 runners featured in my favorite running move of ALL TIME - ‘UNBREAKABLE’ - The Western States 100

      • I have watched at least parts of countless times on Youtube to hype me up to run.

    • Hal Koerner’s “Field Guide to Ultrarunning” is amazing and was pivotal in my training during my first weight loss journey where I was training (in my mind) for a 50km ultra marathon.

  • Courtney Dauwalter & Jim Walmsley: currently my two favorite runners

    • Courtney Dauwalter is just a beast

    • Jim Walmsley is also a beast but his overall story is amazing as well.

  • Dr. Layne Norton

    • so much good information on nutrition and more

    • love his short videos debunking the crap people put out without research backing their claims

  • I’m sure I am missing some and I will probably add more as I continue this quest.
